About Sankara Multi Speciality Hospital
Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam has, over the years, under the benign guidance of the Jagadguru, Sankaracharya, guided, encouraged and blessed the setting up of numerous institutions to serve the needs of the poor. The focus areas have been social activities and initiatives in the domains of Culture & Heritage, Veda (Spiritual), Vidya (Education), and Vaidya (Healthcare). Noteworthy Institutions in the Educational field are the Sankara Vidyalayas, Sankara Colleges and Kanchi University to name a few. In the Healthcare segment, there are numerous General Hospitals like the Hindu Mission Hospitals and Sankara Eye Hospitals across multiple States in the country. All these Institutions are run by numerous Charitable Trusts. One such Institution that was setup in Kanchipuram was Sankara Multispeciality Hospital under Shri Sankara Kripa Educational & Medical Trust, Kanchipuram (SSKEMT).
History
The Hospital was setup in 2009 with the objective of providing relief and succour to the needy population in and around Kanchipuram. The Hospital has been extending emergency care for cardiac patients and dialysis facilities for patients with kidney disorders. The Hospital has been a sought after destination for emergency care as it has the necessary wherewithal in the form of Doctors and equipment to handle critical care.
The Hospital was functioning in a make shift facility which was originally built as a student’s hostel at a location close to Sri Kamakshi Temple in Kanchipuram. A new 101 bed hospital at Enathur was inaugurated on 30th September 2019 by Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri Banwarilal Purohit . The Hospital was built with the CSR support of M/S Larsen & Toubro Ltd to conform to NABH standards and having infrastructure and equipment suitable to provide Outpatient and In-Patient services across all specialties.
Our aim is to extend affordable and compassionate care to all who need medical facilities and the hospital has become a preferred destination for qualitative medical care in the area.
The Hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for dialysis and the service is utilized by around 850 patients every month. Close to 90% of the Dialysis patients are provided the service free of cost through the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme.
